Project Dance brings home numerous awards

The two-year-old Project Dance team has been recognized for performances in the CanDance Competition in Toronto, Bedazzled Dance Champions in Collingwood and Dance Educators of America in North Bay.

Throughout the three-day CanDance competition held in March, the team earned a Diamond, four Platinum, 22 Gold and three Silver awards. The Junior team was also asked to stay and dance in the Diamond dance off.

At the Bedazzled Dance Champions held in April, both the pre-competitive and competitive team received accolades from adjudicators. Together the team took home a Diamond, 17 Platinum and 16 High Gold awards. Along with first place, the mini musical group won most entertaining routine of the competition.

At Dance Educators of America held in April, the team received 10 Diamond, 14 Platinum and five Gold awards.

Several students were also awarded scholarships to participate in the summer dance workshop in either Las Vegas, New York or Panama City.

Throughout the competitions, special recognition for overall high standings were given to Olivia Colill, Taylor Duhammel, Amanda Graffi, Samantha Grano, Morgan Hicks, Kailey Lapensee, Kyra Leroy, Hannah Longe, Hailey McAuley, Emily Nolet, Sarah-Jo Santi and Kelsey Whidden.

Maegan D'Amour is the Director of Project Dance.
