City councillors have decided to leave the future of their salaries and pay raises in the hands of five Greater Sudbury citizens.

A citizens task force will be established to consider remuneration, resources and other financial issues related to future councillors.

The task force will also review the code of ethics and conduct.

The decision was made last month to involve citizens in the process.

“We’re asking (the task force) to look at a whole broad range of what we have and what we need to do the job we do in a reasonable and efficient manner and that any remuneration we receive is fair, but not excessive,” said Ward 5 councillor and chair of the priorities committee Frances Caldarelli.
