Everyone is welcome to Greater Sudbury’s annual celebration of Labour Day this Monday.

“Labour Day is that one day in the year where we can celebrate the gains that labour has made in Canada for the benefit of all Canadians,” said Mine Mill Rick Grylls.

Labour Day will be a family friendly event with fun activities planned for all, union workers and their families and anyone else, said Cheryl Whynott, administrative assistant at the Sudbury and District Labour Council.

The Labour Council, with the help of representatives from United Steelworkers 6500, Mine Mill 598, CUPE and the local newspaper guild, among others have been working hard for months to co-ordinate activities, she said.

Festivities start off at Memorial Park downtown at 10:30 am, Monday, Sept. 4. The annual Labour Day March begins from there at 11 am.

The fun then moves to the Mine Mill Camp at Richard Lake on Highway 69 N where there will be a barbecue, entertainment and childrens’ activities.

The picnic will be held rain or shine.
