In a news release, Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci says he is pleased the provincial government is improving access to health services in northeastern Ontario by investing more than $1 million to establish a nurse practitioner primary health care clinic.
The clinic will have up to six nurse practitioners and will have three sites – two in Greater Sudbury (one of those being in Dowling) and one in Chapleau.
The nurse practitioners will provide comprehensive care to about 5,000 patients who do not have a family doctor.
The clinic will be evaluated in three years to ensure that it has led to improved access, patient satisfaction, integration with family doctors, and better health outcomes.
“Nurse practitioners are a valuable and integral part of our health care system,” says Bartolucci. “The establishment of this clinic will increase access to vital primary health care services for residents of Northern Ontario.”
