  • Don't worry about Man About Town.... he usually writes random comments with random logic.... let's carry on. Anyone who claims to be A Man About Town should be not trusted.

  • I must say that I am offended by the comments posted by Man about Town and the second unknown. To blame the parents immediately is incredibly ignorant. Obviously you have never sat down and actually spoke to most of these children. Most kids will tell you that they are scared and that nothing happened and no one wants to listen to them. These kids are running for a reason. Once your in the system they are STUCK there. Bounced around from home to home or should I say to people accepting pay checks that will gladly do the abuse that the parents more than likely did not do. Foster parents and group homes are not all that they appear to be. Some yes are legit, but the ones like the one in North Bay that was shut down because they were only feeding the children hot dog weiners and the children were found to be malnurished. This is only one example of MANY!!! If I may say that one should open their eyes to the Dr. Smith cases and realize that if a coroner/ patholigist is on the take from the CAS, then who's to say that this system is all what their cracked up to be. Their NOT WHO YOU THINK THEY ARE. HAVE YOUR KIDS "APPREHENDED" AND SEE HOW YOU LIKE IT, EVEN WHEN YOU PLEAD INNOCENT, WHEN YOU ARE INNOCENT, NO ONE WILL LISTEN, NO ONE CARES!!! YOU KNOW WHY BECAUSE ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY!!!!

  • I'm not saying that the parents aren't in any way responsible but some kids hit an age where they don't want to be told what to do by anyone- parents or foster parents. I think more family councelling should be available to families who come to that breaking point before children's aid steps in. Usually, the child is looking for attention from the parents and if rebellion is the only way to get it then they go that route and have a hard time getting back on track.

  • What are you talking about "unknown"? The Childrens' Aid is not a jail. They take youth in that are in danger from their parents. Then provide them with shelter with a foster family. The subject is allowed to go to school and attend other public functions. They are not in prision. And that means they can walk off from school and disappear at any time. The same way your kids can. The problem IS NOT with the CAS, it's with parents. Ones that don't properly care for their own flesh and blood. Negligent enough that the government has to step in and seize the child. If a 15 year old wishes to rebel and take off, there's nothing you can do to stop him/her. And thanks to teaching from various social groups, the youth are aware that once they reach 16, they can basically go it all alone. There are very limited powers to apprehend by the authorities. That's the truth. The blame lies with mommy and daddy. Not the handcuffed government. Remember, when you point one finger, you have 3 others in your hand pointing right back at you.

  • MAYBE THEY ARE RUNNING AWAY FROM RULES AND LIMITS.

  • The main reason these children run away from foster homes is because they will not follow the rules set by the foster parents. Before blame is put onto the Children Aid Society, blame the mothers and fathers of these unfortunate children.

  • again and again children running away from Children's Aid Society of the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin do they feel safer hiding on the streets, with friends or family? Why is nobody asking questions?
