Meagan McGrath, the 30-year-old Sudbury native and mountain climber who successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest earlier this year, left for Indonesia yesterday.

McGrath is going to make a second attempt at climbing Indonesia’s Carstensz Pyramid. Her first attempt took place in early December but she was unable to reach the mountain due to a protest in the area.

If McGrath succeeds in her climb, she will become the only Canadian female and the first Canadian Forces Member to achieve both versions of the Seven Summits.

Meagan will return to Canada on Jan. 8.
