Yesterday, we officially launched the 2014 Campaign.

Accepting the position as the 2014 Campaign Chair was both an honour and a privilege for me. United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts continues to be a strong leader in our community and is committed to investing in long-term positive change.

The mission-based work of United Way is focused on creating opportunities for a better life for everyone and mobilizing collective action. As an entrepreneur, these core values and beliefs are the cornerstone of my professional practice and personal life.

Since its inception in 1982, United Way has raised more than $38 million for the Sudbury and Nipissing districts. This money has been invested in the community to support much needed social service programs that help move people from poverty to possibility, build strong communities and help kids be all they can be.

These programs offer opportunities that create long-term impact for individuals and for our community.

In 2013, United Way successfully launched a ground-breaking, three-year campaign goal of $7 million. Along with this goal, a plan was developed outlining the modernization of United Way’s fundraising model, specifically for a sustainable, efficient and innovative campaign that supports our community needs.

The three-year campaign plan also aims to improve community awareness of the organization and focus on accountability to donors. The Campaign Cabinet and I look forward to building upon the successes of the first year to ensure we reach our goal.

Your investment in our community will make a difference, so please consider taking a leadership role by increasing your gift or giving for the first time.

Change starts with you — change starts here.

Mike Di Brina is the chair of the 2014 United Way campaign.
