On Friday, Oct. 2, the Sudbury Theatre Centre stage will be musically ablaze with Guitar of Fire, a high-energy concert with an eclectic mix of Afro-Cuban, gypsy, tropical, Latin instrumental melodies from his best-selling albums.

The Linstead ensemble’s unique sound melds Spanish guitar, tropical rhythms, soulful jazz and romantic harmonies into a unique performance that embraces many different cultures.

Their first-ever performance in Sudbury was to a sold-out crowd in May 2014. Right from the outset, young and old were swaying to the music, many even dancing in the aisles.

Festive, spirited rhythms and virtuoso fretwork have earned Linstead several international awards, including Canada’s Guitarist of the Year, a JUNO nomination, numerous
Best Album awards and U.S. Top Ten Billboard charting albums, a Best World Album and People’s Choice Award in the U.K.

Linstead has also earned acclaim from Smooth Jazz, New Age and World Music audiences. While best described as a Latin guitarist, Linstead is inspired by music from all around the world, as well as from different eras. He regularly works with top performers from a variety of musical genres.

His latest album, “Midnight Rhumba”, recently charted in the Top Five for International Radio Airplay and in the Top Ten on the coveted Billboard charts in the U.S.

The globally renowned instrumentalist writes and mixes his own music at his own studio, runs a record company, and performs concerts around the world. Known for his high-energy concerts, Linstead is regularly featured at prestigious performing arts centres and music festivals, including California’s famed Catalina Island Jazz Festival.

Following Friday’s performance at STC, there will be a casual meet-and-greet with Linstead and his multi-talented ensemble for photos and CD signing.
