Skate exchange committee thanks sponsors and supporters - Chartrand

The Skate Exchange season has come and gone, and we are pleased to announce that it was once again a success.
The Skate Exchange season has come and gone, and we are pleased to announce that it was once again a success. Thanks to our community and your many contributions, we were able to distribute more than 500 pairs of skates to families, children, youth, and community agencies this fall/winter season.

The growth our program, experienced this past season, would not have been possible without the help of our outstanding community-minded businesses and partners. On behalf of the Skate Exchange committee, we would like to thank these important donors for their generous support and contributions this past season.

Special thanks to our local Home Hardware stores, Home Building Centres and TyeDee Bin Industries, who came together and made it possible for the Skate Exchange program to have permanent donation bins in all operating arenas throughout Greater Sudbury. We are proud to see your logos displayed on our bins, as they bring increased visibility and awareness to the Skate Exchange program within the community.

Thank you Skater’s Edge Source for Sports, Lasalle Boulevard. Your kind donation of used skates and sharpening services has been an immense benefit to our program this past season. The ongoing support of your friendly staff has made it a pleasure doing business with you.

Thank you to the Ten Rainbows Foundation for helping replenish our skate stock when it was getting low. Your acquisition and generous donation of used skates is greatly appreciated.

Thank you OPEN ICE Sudbury for kindly lending us the use of your trailer, for an on-site skate exchange during the Pond Hockey Festival on the Rock.

We have seen first-hand the joy and surprise on many faces as they collect a free pair of skates. Children and families, who may not otherwise have had the means, were able to get out and enjoy skating or a game of hockey with friends and family this season and for seasons to come. We have all of you to thank for that.

Without each of our community partners, volunteers, sponsors, and local media, there would not be a Skate Exchange program. On behalf of the children and families who benefit from this program every year, our sincere thanks.

The Skate Exchange committee of Greater Sudbury is a collaborative partnership between a number of agencies and organizations in the City of Greater Sudbury that share a common goal of removing barriers to physical activity and encouraging children and families to be winter active.
