Retirement active living homes in Sudbury are second to none.

The initial costs sound outlandish until all factors of service are taken into account, along with the personal services provided. These retirement homes are more than reasonable (in cost).

They have private suites large enough to house large bedroom furniture from their own homes, as well as living room furniture.

They have regular prepared meals in a lovely formal dining room, as well as snacks and
beverages.

Heat, hydro, cable, central air and housekeeping, as well as clean sheets and towels, along with free use of laundry facilities (are also included).

There is on-site nursing care, along with personal care workers provided when necessary.

It’s such a lovely, comfortable way to live one’s elder years.

No more worries about household upkeep, cooking, shopping, snow removal, yard upkeep or any of the usual household duties.

These retirement homes provide social events, as well as group outings or even private outings with family.

There are also on site hairdressing facilities, banking, ATM machines and an interdenominational church service facility.

Of course, for some, this transition is very difficult, and an adjustment period falls into place after living a certain lifestyles for so many years. But in the long-term, it’s a wonderful transition nevertheless.

Some facilities even allow the patrons to bring their pets to live with them, as long as they care for them personally.
Such a wonderful way to embrace one’s final years.

Just visiting these homes and seeing happy, well-cared-for seniors enjoying life without stress is a real pleasure.

Family members can feel at peace just knowing their elderly parents or relatives are in such caring hands with professional understanding caregivers.

  • Many of these "retirement homes" are not regulated by government policy and these residents are at risk for being ripoffed by unlicenced professionals and living with strangers that don't have criminal checks. The costs are outlandish to seniors on a fixed income and they have nothing left at the end of the month for their "extras", Many workers there work for minimum wage and have a lack of skills in the senior population. The residents are encased in this small cocoon and don't have a chance to go out for social enjoyment. Most places don't have a registered nurse. Just visiting these place looking at seniors being sad sitting in the lobby sleeping and looking vacant causes me to cry. Activities like bingo or throw toss is demaning to this age group never mind toddlers. Mu
