I agree wholeheartedly with comments made by John Colasimone in his Aug. 17 letter, in which he affirms that the mayor is “a complete joke.”
It would seem that the “bus driver” has been inspired by the role of the Joker in the Batman stories. Unfortunately, the mayor also seems unable to separate fact from fiction.
He has played quite a few jokes on the poor residents of the City of Greater Taxes – er, Sudbury – since his election, not the least of which has been his carefree attitude towards spending our tax dollars.
The mayor trumpets loud and clear that our city needs additional tax revenue as justification for avoiding any real efforts to secure the former hospital property.
Perhaps he could explain, in clear and simple language how the city’s tax base would be improved by spending some $175 million on his “legacy” project, since this property would be city-owned and, therefore, not provide any additional tax dollars.
Taking his cue once again from Batman, the bus driver imagines he is steering a “bat-mobile” to the rescue, but he fails to realize his lack of leadership means he is driving a “bust-mobile” instead, thanks to the ever increasing drain on our resources.
Almost 800 years ago, in 1215, a former King John was obliged to accept limits on his authority when his subjects forced him to sign the Magna Carta.
Our very own King John should stop emulating the Joker and take his cue from the English monarch, pack his bags and go home to enjoy his pensions, while we try to elect someone who will attempt to repair the damage he has caused these past four years.
