Re: Article “‘We need tax revenues for things our citizens are demanding’,” which appeared in the Aug. 3 edition of Northern Life.

(Mayor John Rodriguez) have you lost your cotton-picking mind regarding the sale and rezoning of the St. Joseph’s Health Centre site?

How can $1.5 million for a “crown jewel” be equated with burdening taxpayers? Surely, local developers would have gladly stepped up to the plate in order to facilitate refurbishing without gouging city hall?

Spewing out numbers without thoroughly researching specifics lacks affirmation. Sudburians are not fooled by a masked pretext to safeguard their purses.

Putting it somewhat in perspective, two, perhaps even one, Ramsey Lake lakefront home goes for close to $1 million in the current real estate market.

Tearing the site down could have been averted considering Sudbury’s ALC dilemma. Public sector recommendations included a convention centre, art gallery and planetarium. The realm of possibilities are endless.

Allowing an out-of-town developer to gain ownership over such a prized real estate will surely come back to haunt city council. Shame on you.

Four and a half acres is nothing to sneeze at, regardless of the fact that Bell Park is presently sitting on 150 acres.

I am appalled, as are many Sudburians, at your lack of imagination, misguided perception and perceived bullish overtures.

For your information, it goes without saying, a bus driver’s responsibility is to maneuver via a sound communication system that ensures passengers a source of well-being.

Arrogance deters one from truly acknowledging, caring, and comprehending the plight, incentives, virtue and vision of others in their charge.

Humility is what propels laudable stewardship, distinguishes the great and honourable, the heroes and the wise. I, for one, cannot wait for the next municipal election.

  • What a beautiful letter, thank you writer. Now i dont have to write my own letter of bashing ridicule, cuz we all know the mayors an idiot and we all know what the bottom line was $.
PS... Rodrig, you ARE a dork. Thanks for adding your pile "" to make it taller.
Performing arts venue?...please dont run for mayor.

  • I am sure city council will not be haunted by the sale of the hospital, they would have had to care in the first place.

  • The site would have been a perfect venue for a Performing Arts Centre...What a shame
