The 2012 RBC Hike for Hospice, held May 6, was an enormous success. Our goal was surpassed, and thanks to our generous community, more than $152,000 was raised in cash donations for Maison Vale Hospice.
More than 1,000 people participated in the RBC Hike, including numerous teams of families and friends whose loved ones have lived their final journey at the Hospice.
The board, staff and volunteers of the hospice would like to express their appreciation to all participants and sponsors, starting with our title sponsor, RBC.
Many thanks to our chair, Bill Bray, RBC regional vice-president for northeastern Ontario, to RBC Dominion Securities and the RBC Foundation for Volunteerism.
Special thanks go out to our other hike sponsors: Vale, Giant Tiger (Espanola and Sudbury locations), Battistelli’s Your Independent Grocers, Cambrian Insurance, Reliable, Club Richelieu Sudbury, McQueen’s Furniture, Central Printers, Pete’s Rental, Piller’s Meats, Tangles, MediGas, and Media Concepts.
We would like to recognize our media partners who helped raise our profile in the community by promoting the hike: Northern Life, CTV, EastLink, Rewind 103.9, KFM 95.5, KICX 91.7, Le Voyageur & Le Loup 98.9. Thank you for joining our hospice family.
The hospice would also like to give tribute to community partners who contributed to the success of our hike: Churchill Primary School, the children and parents of Better Beginning Better Futures, Bayshore Home Health, Valérie Michel and her Zumba group, the Greater Sudbury Parks & Recreation Department, Sudbury EMS, Greater Sudbury Regional Police Services, and Larry Barrio and Steph Bernard for their musical performance.
The winner of the 2012 RBC Hike for Hospice $1,000 gift certificate from McQueen’s Furniture is Grant Schell.
All the funds raised at the RBC Hike for Hospice stay in our community and go towards operating costs of our community residential hospice.
Join us for our next fundraisers, the July 22 for Butterflies & Memories and the Aug. 19 Desjardins Roulons pour la Maison Wheels for Hospice.
