Re: Article “Hospital stays ‘too generous,’ chair says,” which appeared in the Oct. 11 edition of Northern Life.

Because our wait time in the emergency department is one of the worst in the province, people don’t go unless they are very sick. So consequently, you will see a higher percentage of people attending the ER admitted.

I would say that the doctors and nurses in the ER and on the floors have been trying very hard, for years, to admit only those who absolutely need to, and to discharge as soon as possible.

To say otherwise, as Martin’s report does, is, in my opinion, very unfounded.
If he was serious about helping us, he would ask the government to send us the funding needed to keep the Memorial open, instead of asking the LHIN to take money from elsewhere.

The Liberal government wasted hundreds of millions of dollars to buy votes in southern Ontario.

How come some of that money did not come here instead so we could have the funds needed to provide our frail seniors with much-needed subsidized assisted living housing, instead of them having to go to the hospital or nursing homes?
