End ‘dilly-dallying’ on road repairs - Yvan Robert

The Canadian Automobile Association has highlighted the need to spend money on the City of Greater Sudbury’s roads and sidewalk infrastructure.

The dilly-dallying about our roads and sidewalks has gone on for too long. There is no more time for debate. City roads and sidewalks are crumbling.

Some of our councillors don’t support spending taxpayers’ money on fixing roads and sidewalks.

They want to continue the discussion about Maley Drive. Our mayor doesn’t seem to care and wants to push the Maley Drive project over the finish line.

If the safety of Sudburians wasn’t at risk, then that would be an option. Politics aside, the time for indecision is over. City council needs to stop petty fighting about who’s right and who’s wrong.

Safety is not a partisan issue and cannot be treated as such. When city council meets in the near future, it is vital that they focus on the importance of public safety.

This city, its residents and the road and sidewalk infrastructure cannot afford to waste any more time.
