Landlords turning away pet owners - Katlan Ranger

I am here to express my distress over the matter of landlords turning away people from renting apartments in the City of Greater Sudbury. I have been turned away twice because I own two dogs.

I can understand that if a place has been renovated, there is a fear of damage. But children can be just as destructive as pets. So why turn away pet owners?

I know you cannot ask for a damage deposit, but if there is a strong concern for damage, why not ask? I am pretty sure that responsible pet owners have no problem giving money to a landlord towards any damage that may be caused by the pets.

People have to realize that 80 per cent of the population of Sudbury are pet owners and will more than likely not part with them, as they have became a valued member of the family. This is something needs to be settled once and for all.
