There’s less than a year remaining for the present mayor and city council, and as I look back and reflect on the decisions made, I wonder what benefit there’s been to the residents of the City of Greater Sudbury?

Honestly, I can’t think of one, can you?

Early on in the term, it became evident they were determined to remain at odds on nearly every item that came across the table. There is plenty of blame to go around — neither side is without fault.

Business is business, and regardless of in-fighting, this council was elected by us to bring about positive change. I’ve see none and I doubt I will see any in the next year.

Old habits die hard, and if we, as voters, bring any of these people back, we have only ourselves to blame.

Let’s draw a line in the sand and say ‘No more.’ It’s time for people to come forward with a vision of where our city should be and the road we are taking to get there. It’s time for a new beginning. We need change and actions that will benefit the almost 160,000 citizens that make up the City of Greater Sudbury.

Will all of this happen overnight? No. But it should bring in a wave of new ideas, new beginnings and hopefully a better future for all of us.
