Letter: Cherry’s bigotry apparently catching for McLean

It has happened. Ron McLean has been around Don Cherry too long. Cherry’s bigotry has rubbed off and affected McLean.

McLean now believes that Quebec referees should not work Canadiens games. Wow, what an idiotic statement. He sounds like the old Russians crying about having NHL referees work international games.

It is so sad the Leafs are out. The CBC will drop NHL games and hopefully both McLean and Cherry. Cherry and McLean now have no one to cheer for now that the Leafs are out.

As non-biased reporters, they should at least try not to make it so obvious. Imagine no Ontario-born referee working any Ottawa or Toronto games. Collusion in the NHL is with Boston — they play like goons, yet the NHL does nothing.

I must agree that the refereeing leaves a lot to be desired, to the point that there are rumours they are not getting paid for playoffs, the cause of poor enforcement of the rules.

By the way, Ron and Don, the Canadiens have won the Stanley Cup more often than the Leafs and Bruins together, since the 1950s.
