The Onaping Falls Golden Age Club held a barbecue to celebrate the completion of a rear deck and to thank all those who contributed to its completion. Support for this project was received from various sources.

The Ontario Trillum Foundation provided a grant of $8,000 in 2012. The Trillum Foundation is an Ontario government agency that supports community initiatives. In the case of the golden age club, it has supported accessibility.

Making the deck accessible to someone in a wheelchair, or to someone using a walker or cane was an important condition of the grant.

In 2002, the club received $60,000 from the Trillium Foundation for the installation of a lift.

Xstrata Nickel generously donated $5,000 to the deck’s construction. Claude Berthiaume, Ward 3 councillor supported this project through his discretionary fund.

Xstrata Nickel Athletic Association has supported the club’s projects in the past and supported the deck project as well.

The club appreciates the generosity of government, corporations and individuals. Thank you to all who supported our project.
