I am pleased the provincial Ministry of the Environment approval process provides a “last chance” opportunity to the general public to have their valid perspectives reviewed when there is concern that the community consultation process might have been flawed.

I am pleased I did not have to hire a lawyer and be burdened with legal and court fees to ask my questions. I am pleased I am not alone with my concerns and that others have come forth to offer support and encouragement.

I am pleased my letter gave our community the opportunity of a “time out period” to re think and regroup as good neighbours and good stewards. I am pleased that the democratic process is alive and well in the hearts of Sudburians and Ontarians.

I respect (Toronto engineer and environmental lawyer) Mr. Frank Zechner’s concern about “flaws” in the environmental approvals process.

I hope Mr. Zechner and the groups he represents appreciate the public opportunities for input and support the need to preserve this public right.
City staff have agreed to participate in another public consultation Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Legion hall on Weller Street.

City staff are taking the public concerns seriously and want the opportunity to discuss road construction options for Second Avenue in a productive, “move forward” manner.

The Minnow Lake CAN wants to demonstrate that it wants (and can) work co-operatively with the city to get Second Avenue Road improvements restarted as soon as possible.

The public wants a plan that is affordable and considers the environmental and social needs of this high density residential area located in the Sudbury watershed.

The Minnow Lake CAN and city staff are working together on this presentation to create and nurture the “good neighbourhood atmosphere.”
