Homeless man’s death illuminates society’s dark side

Re: Article “Police ID deceased man featured in YouTube video,” published Sept. 4.
There were no medical staff or linen sheet tucked around Vince Harper as he passed unto the other side. He lay face down on the pavement along with a friend, but only one of them would wake to see the next day, for Vince was gone.

Only one man stopped to see if they needed help. Our society is no better than the least amongst us, and we are to help the lost souls amongst us, for they cannot help themselves.
Homelessness and addictions should be better dealt with, and no one should end his life face down in the pavement while the party goes on.

Vince, my spirit rides with you into a better place. I myself am sorry for all the times I had passed him by and never even looked down where he lay.

Lying somewhere in the city oblivious to the world around him, he travelled the great journey that awaits us all.
