Letter: Are you a slave to your phone?

More and more I see people in this world becoming slaves, not to their partners, nor to their parents, not even to their work, but instead, to their phones.

Yes, a piece of electronics has become more powerful, more demanding, and better at getting your attention than any actual person.

Think about it for a second. How often do we see people checking their phones? They do this while they talk to you, while they are watching TV, while they are supposed to be working, and some are even ignorant and careless enough to check it while driving.

I can’t keep track at how many close calls I’ve had with people swerving into the wrong lane while I’ve been driving, let alone how many I’ve seen looking down while driving past me. It’s absolutely insane.

Ask yourself “Am I a slave to my phone?” and be honest with yourself.

We live in a beautiful world. Live in it without an electronic device always hiding what’s in front of you. Yes, they are great for the most part, but be the one in control of your phone, do not be a slave to it.
