Letter: Newly repaved road already has cracks

Regarding the Bouchard Street speed-bump issue, here in Lively, we have another issue with the City of Greater Sudbury. Last year the city spent $5 million to redo Niemi Road.
Regarding the Bouchard Street speed-bump issue, here in Lively, we have another issue with the City of Greater Sudbury.

Last year the city spent $5 million to redo Niemi Road. In less than a year, the road developed rather large cracks in the asphalt.

We brought it to the attention of the person in charge of the roads, saying maybe they ought to fill in the said cracks with hot asphalt before water gets into them and the problem becomes a much bigger problem.

We have been told other new roads also have cracks which they are keeping an eye on. We just hope the cracks don’t keep getting wider and the roads will have to be redone at a huge cost to the taxpayers.
