Letter: Bigger’s tax freeze would mean cuts: Rodriguez

So mayoral candidate Brian Bigger is proposing a one-year tax freeze for Greater Sudbury. In light of the announced reduction of $3.
So mayoral candidate Brian Bigger is proposing a one-year tax freeze for Greater Sudbury.

In light of the announced reduction of $3.1 million from the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund in 2015, the citizens of Greater Sudbury deserve to know who the victims of his freeze will be.

Will they be the workers at Pioneer Manor, firefighters, police officers or EMS staff? How many front-line jobs at the city will be cut?

Or will Mr. Bigger cut services? Will he increase user fees or close arenas and pools? Will there need to be a foot of snow before the plows are called out? Never mind picking up garbage every two weeks, will this now be once a month?

The people of this city deserve to have answers to these questions. Will the cuts be in people or services?

We have seen this movie before. It is called, “Ford Nation North.”
