Letter: Trustee elections crucial

However, just as important as the selection of our city council is the selection of the individuals we choose to put on our boards of education.

Even voters without children should be paying attention to the election of trustees. Our education system prepares our future citizens who will become the future leaders of our community. We all have a responsibility to care about what is being taught in our schools and how it is being taught.

Time is running out to make your choice. Please find out who the trustee candidates are in your area and ask them about their position on the curriculum, ask them how they intend to make a difference or how they intend to deal with the issues facing all boards of education (decreasing enrolment, decreased funding, etc.).

If you are speaking to the incumbents, ask them how they have made a difference and what they have done to improve the system.
