Letter: Traffic safety? Don’t think so

Sudbury has seen many attempts at improving traffic circulation, some of them successful, others not so much. There is one example of the latter that springs to mind.

The recent construction of a median at the corner of Barrydowne Road and Woodbine Avenue strikes me as not only a mystery, but a definite hazard.

As you leave Cambrian College, there are two eastbound lanes on Barrydowne. The problem lies in wait as you come over the crest of the hill, nearing Woodbine. A median appears out of nowhere giving the drivers in the inside lane three options: A) Stop; B) Slam into the unexpected median; Or, C) swerve into the right-hand lane.

Factor in the typical winter snow as a disguise and the added problems of snow plowing, and I am puzzled. Who designed and approved the installation of this obvious accident-waiting-to-happen?
