Letter: How can council disregard referendum results?

I am proud to live in Sudbury with regulated store hours, and I am disappointed that this could be the first Boxing Day where stores may be open for the holiday.

I don’t understand how the referendum without the minimum number of voters results in a mandate to deregulate store hours. Can someone please explain this to me?

Is this how council intends to lead for the next four years? This is just another symbol for our society, how consumerism is more valuable than time with family and friends. Please do not disregard the results of the referendum.
