Letter: Opposition to Maley Drive extension unwarranted

John Lindsay is again protesting the improvement of traffic flow in the city of Sudbury. First his group was instrumental in preventing Howey Drive from being widened to four lanes.

Next his group opposed constructing a road from Bancroft/Bellevue intersection to the new Silver Hills development, which would alleviate the traffic congestion that exists at the box stores.

Now he opposes the extension of Maley Drive, which has been discussed for 25 years. but so far no action has been taken to remove traffic pressure from The Kingsway and Lasalle Boulevard.

Sudbury has to be the worst city in North America for traffic flowing in and out of the city. Visitors from out west and the States cannot believe the congestion of traffic on our major arteries.

I can drive from North Bay to Sudbury in 90 minutes, but on many occasions, it takes an hour to drive from the Barrydowne intersection to my home in the West End.

This is disgusting. It is outrageous. And it is reprehensible.

Let’s move our asses on Maley Drive, and for heaven’s sake, four lane Howey Drive.
