Letter: Sudbury’s gas prices puzzling

What is it with Sudbury? On Jan. 5, a barrel of oil was $50.94, a 50-per-cent reduction in the past month. The national average is 93.9 cents per litre. The Ontario average is 93.4 cents per litre. North Bay is running from 78.9 cents to 82.

North Bay is running from 78.9 cents to 82.3 cents per litre, Barrie is 87.4 cents to 92.9 cents per litre and Sudbury is $101.3 to $102.3 per litre.

The petroleum companies state it is due to transportation costs.

I have difficult time accepting this: the price of cheese and a bag of flour are the same price in Sudbury as in North Bay and Barrie. These products are also trucked into Sudbury.
So how can they support this lame excuse that it costs more to transport gas? When will our governments step with charges for price gouging?
