Sudbury has a higher percentage of seniors than the provincial average and deserves special consideration from the provincial government, according to the Friendly to Seniors – Sudbury advocacy group that has prepared a number of points of concern for the attention of candidates in the Sudbury riding by-election.

They include items related to health care housing, hydro rates and transportation etc.

- Additional resources for long term care (ALC) and in-home health services for seniors.
- Provision for more affordable seniors housing, especially for those of low income.
- Tax relief measures for senior home owners in co-operation with the municipality.
- Reduced hydro rates for seniors, both owners and renters.
- Resources for more accessible for regular and Handi-Transit.
- Equality of medical diagnostic services provincially, including a PET scanner for Sudbury.
