Letter: Bike lanes don’t help outlying communities

I reside in Levack, which is supposed to be a part of the City of Greater Sudbury. At least that is what they tell us and I know that’s where my tax money is going. Highway 144 from Levack to Chelmsford is an accident waiting to happen. The roads are beyond unacceptable.

The potholes, or crevasses, as we refer to them, are not only endangering lives, but costing us money in vehicle repairs. I work in Sudbury and use these roads at least four times a week, which in itself results in wear and tear on my vehicle. It’s only January and my front struts have to be replaced. Why? Potholes.

The idea of improving the cycling network will do nothing for the outlying areas.

None of us, including those living within the city, will be cycling 30 to 40 miles to work in -30 C weather, snowstorms or rain.

Some people don’t see any farther than their neighbourhood. I certainly hope our municipal government is more logical when reviewing the various requests brought forth.
