Letter: Many uncomfortable with assisted suicide ruling

I am very thankful people like Bishop Jean-Louise Plouffe are speaking out against doctor-assisted suicide, this new ruling of the court. It is true, many of us are certainly not comfortable or believe in such a ruling.
I am very thankful people like Bishop Jean-Louise Plouffe are speaking out against doctor-assisted suicide, this new ruling of the court.

It is true, many of us are certainly not comfortable or believe in such a ruling. It is up to God when we come into this world, and it should be left to Him when we depart.

If this were to remain as law, it won’t be long before euthanasia is made legal. Euthanasia is an action which directly and intentionally causes or hastens the death of another in order to put an end to a person’s suffering, with or without the person’s consent.

Doctors and nurses are to be people of healing and care for the sick and disabled, not people of death. Palliative care is what is essential and I thank God for these workers. We need more of these people and more nurses, not less.

We are a nation, a Canadian family. Let us stop all this talk of killing, and commit ourselves to each other, to life, to interdependence.

Canada stands at a crossroads with how we view human life. Let us think soberly.
