The Westmount Community Centre executive is pleased to announce the receipt of a Zoll AED Plus and AED with CPR training from Heart ZAP Services, through the National AED Program developed by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

The purpose of the program is to have public access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs) across Canada.

The Zoll AED Plus equipment and case were installed recently at the Westmount Community Centre off of Kipling Court.

Thirteen community volunteers were provided with a half-day training and certification by a Heart ZAP Instructor. The unit is accessible to the public and is equipped for both adults and youth.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation, with funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada, is offering sports facilities fully funded AEDs.

The program also provides free CPR training to facility staff, to ensure they’re prepared for a cardiac emergency.
