Letter: Hike for Hospice offers thanks for support

The 2015 RBC Hike for Hospice, held May 3, was a great success. Our goal was surpassed, and thanks to our generous community, more than $150,000 was raised for the Maison Vale Hospice. The event attracted more than 1,000 participants.

The 2015 RBC Hike for Hospice, held May 3, was a great success. Our goal was surpassed, and thanks to our generous community, more than $150,000 was raised for the Maison Vale Hospice.

The event attracted more than 1,000 participants.

The board, staff and volunteers of the hospice would like to express their appreciation to all participants and sponsors, starting with our Title Sponsor – RBC. Many thanks as well to our Hike chair, Scott Sonder, RBC vice-president Northern Lakes and to RBC Dominion Securities.

Special thanks go out to our other RBC Hike Sponsors: Battistelli’s Independent Grocer, Cambrian Insurance, Central Printers, Churchill Public School, Frito Lay, Giant Tiger, KIA Sudbury Motors, Medigas, McQueen’s Furniture, Pete’s Rental, Piller’s Meats, Tim Horton’s (Algonquin Square) and Vale.

We would also like to recognize our media partners who helped raise our profile in the community by promoting the RBC Hike for Hospice: CTV, Eastlink, KICX FM, KFM, KiSS FM, Le Loup FM, Le Voyageur, Northern Life and Q92.

The Hospice would also like to give tribute to our community partners who contributed to the success of our RBC Hike: Bayshore Home Health, the Greater Sudbury Parks and Recreation Department, Greater Sudbury Police Services, Mayor Brian Bigger, MPP Glenn Thibeault, St. John Ambulance, Sudbury and District Pipe Band.

The winner of the 2015 RBC Hike for Hospice $1,000 gift certificate from McQueen’s Furniture is Albert Nesseth. The proud sponsor, McQueen’s Furniture, donated the gift certificate to be put into a draw for the participants who collected a minimum of $500 in pledges at this year’s RBC Hike for Hospice.

All the funds raised at the RBC Hike for Hospice stay in our community and go towards operating costs of the Maison Vale Hospice. Join us for our next fundraiser on July 19 for our live butterfly release KIA Butterflies & Memories at Science North. Please visit our website for more details at maisonsudburyhospice.org.
