Letter: Parents thankful for all who have helped their son

I would like to specially thank Bill (taxi driver for Aaron Taxi) for going out of his way to help our son Gary.

Recently, Gary made a large purchase at the Canadian Tire store in New Sudbury. So, instead of taking the bus, he called a cab.

It was then that he realized that he had lost his wallet. Bill took him to the bank so he could cancel his debit card and get another one. All this time, Bill waited and did not run his meter. Also, he helped Gary carry his very heavy purchase up to his second-floor apartment.

Thank you so much, Bill, for being the special person that you are.

Our son has special needs, but loves to live alone. It is because of helpful people like you that this is possible. The folks and patrons of Tim Horton’s on Notre Dame, the staff at the CIBC bank in the New Sudbury shopping centre and the city bus drivers all deserve credit for making Gary’s life easier.

A few years ago, a couple (Lorraine and her husband) helped Gary while recovering from a seizure and then waited with him for my husband and I to arrive. I hope, Lorraine, that you see this.

Chris Cassidy, thank you and so many, many more that we don’t even know about. They are definitely caring and community minded.

Hugs to all of you.
