With more than 1,000 suspended drivers in the Sudbury area, this city’s “nuisance” driver population is rapidly getting out of control.

What follows are a few suggestions to help you “steer” clear of those vehicular varmints who, though legally prohibited from driving, do not feel constrained from doing so.

1 – If you think you are sharing the road with a nuisance driver, do not honk your horn, as this only antagonizes them further.

2 – If you are a pedestrian walking with the light and a car simultaneously makes a left-hand turn into your path, raise your hands high, slowly back up to the curb, and await the next walk signal. Avoid eye contact.

3 – Do not place your garbage can at the curb the night before unless you’re willing to run the risk of it being crushed under the wheels of one of these motoring miscreants.

This past spring, a police crackdown was undertaken to reduce the number of “nuisance” drivers on the road. Unfortunately, it was not altogether successful. Perhaps an autumn culling?
