I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of my staff, Brian Kuczma and Maggie Leblanc, our board of directors, and myself, to thank you for your support to our eighth annual Downtown Sudbury Ribfest.
This three-day street festival, held over the Labour Day weekend (Sept. 4–6), continues to strengthen as a major community festival – one of the largest in our city and Northern Ontario. This year, the weather was definitely in our favour and resulted in the largest attendance to date, attracting about 55,000 people over the three days!
The rib teams continue to rank this event among the top five events of its kind in Canada.
Thanks to continued strong community support, in our eighth year, we were again able to provide strong event elements for all ages, including:
-Six rib teams;
-Family fun zone featuring free wagon rides, Niagara inflatables, Science North interactive display, demonstrations, etc.;
-26 musical acts featuring ‘something for everyone’ – all but two were local;
-Special guests Hard Rock, Canada’s No. 1 Rolling Stones tribute act was a crowd favourite;
-Car and motorcycle show;
-Festival foods and merchandise village;
-Downtown free movie under the stars.

You will be pleased to know that we heard of many out-of-town visitors for this event, not just Northern Ontario but provinces beyond (Quebec, Nlfd., B.C., New Brunswick), as well as the United States, Australia and China.
Your continued support in getting the message out has definitely helped us grow this event.
