On behalf of the Organ Donor Awareness Committee of the Sudbury Irish Heritage Club, we wish to publicly express our sincere appreciation to the many individuals and businesses that helped us financially and in kind with our 16th annual One Saves Eight Michael O’Reilly Organ Donor Awareness celebration on Sept. 26.

Thank you to Coun. Al Sizer, Reggie White, Lively, Sudbury and District Pipes and Drums, Gerry Lougheed Jr. and the Lougheed family, Sudbury Credit Union, Trillium Gift of Life Network, Greater City of Sudbury staff and Mayor Brian Bigger, Michael and Mrs. Susan Babin, Betty and Richard Wickenden, Knights of Columbus councils 3909 and 11522, Turf King, Local 800 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Sudbury, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 793.

Many thanks to Carol Craig, who organized the warmup, Peter Williams, Metro Val Caron, Toppers Pizza, Tim Hortons in Lively, Greater Sudbury Police, Northern Life, Sudbury Star and Science North.

Thank you to all those who assisted with the computers. This made our online registration very convenient.

Thanks to Dr. Nalla, who outlined the importance of organ donors and to the organ recipients who told us their stories. We are proud that Greater Sudbury has one of the highest rates of registered organ donor members in Ontario.

Don’t take your organs to Heaven. Heaven knows we need them here.
