Money for parking lot paving could have been better spent

I do understand that the City of Greater Sudbury is in a cost-saving mode due to the constraints that have been placed on the budget.

Therefore it puzzles me that in this situation the City of Greater Sudbury has found the money to pave the huge parking lot of the Water Treatment Plant on Highway 17.

The cost involved must have been very high because it cost me more than $1,000 to pave my driveway years ago. So I am assuming that it must have cost at least $100,000 to do that.

Not only that, but the painted lines are so beautiful for the parking spaces, and my understanding is that there are only eight to 10 employees. I must say that it was a great improvement and looks so nice when I travel by at 90 kilometres an hour.

However, I think for the cost, that my eyes would have been able to look at the gravel parking lot and not be strained or hurt.

Plus the money would have been saved for jobs that were more worthy.
