Letter: Increased parking fees bad for seniors’ health

I am writing in support of all seniors.

I volunteer at the Parkside Centre, where we have had so many complaints about the age for cheaper parking for seniors no longer being available. We have seniors who come to Parkside for many programs every day.

This is great for them to keep themselves mentally and physically fit.

Some of these “younger seniors” will no longer be able to keep doing this as they cannot afford to pay the increased parking fees. It is also too expensive for them to take buses there and back for these enjoyable outings.

Would you please advise me if there is any way we seniors can do anything about this?

They keep telling seniors to keep active, but a lot are on small fixed incomes and are not able with these increases.

It is a long, lonely winter for seniors who are not able to get out for this.
