Letter: Salvation Army thankful for support

The Christmas of 2015 was one of the busiest for The Salvation Army Sudbury Community & Family Services.

As an organization, we were prepared with turkey and ham, food vouchers and toys to assist 750 households with the basics for Christmas assistance. We registered 1,017 households and realized quickly that we needed help.

We put the word out and help we got. The citizens and businesses of Greater Sudbury opened their hearts and their wallets within moments of the distress call.

From A&W and Q92, with their massive turkey drive, to the gentleman who dropped off 20 turkeys and boxes of stuffing one evening in December; from the local CAA office with gifts of movie passes and Wolves tickets, to the grandmother and family who dropped off two turkeys and many bags of toys; from each and every one of you who put your hard-earned dollars into our kettles to the Sudbury Food Bank who does this with us every day, we say thank you.

We could never have raised $203,555.05 in our Kettle Campaign without you. We could never have raised an additional $42,776.07 in hamper donations without you. We could never have brought in an additional 400 turkeys and hams without you. We could not have brought smiles to 1,448 adults and 891 children without you. You helped us in our mission of Giving Hope Today.

We, of course, would like to thank all our Kettle locations, store managers and employees, all of our community partners and donors, as well as all of The Salvation Army’s dedicated staff and volunteers. You rock.
