Letter: Snow banks put school children at risk

Forgive this rant, but there is a lack of consistent snow removal leading to children’s safety at school bus stops along Laforest Avenue in Sudbury.

Forgive this rant, but there is a lack of consistent snow removal leading to children’s safety at school bus stops along Laforest Avenue in Sudbury.

My five-year-old son is one of eight to 10 students at his bus stop (route L-110) for the three days in a row who have been put in harm’s way with their official school bus stop adjacent to 554 Laforest near the corner of Laforest at St. George Street.

This school bus stop is one of several along Laforest that students wait for the school bus during rush hour in the morning and afternoon.

Students are then forced to stand on private property, on the road or stand on the snow banks at risk of falling in the line of traffic.

The bus driver is careful and patient, doing his best to accommodate the inconvenience.

The resident, who runs a daycare on the corner, was told by the city that only one side of the street was plowed. Unfortunately it is not the side that the school bus stops are located along Laforest Ave.
