Letter: Active transportation co-ordinator long overdue

Since being one of the founding members of the Bicycle Advisory Committee many decades ago, the decision to employ an active transportation co-ordinator is good budget news indeed.

While there has been much lip service over the years with respect to active transportation, including cycling infrastructure, very little action or implementation has taken place.

The new AT person will definitely have challenges in our car- (or should I say pick-up) centric city and the primarily vehicle-only considerations of staff over many years and little encouragement from previous councils.

I would recommend that arrangements be made for the AT staff person in Thunder Bay, Adam Krupper, to present to council and the public the work he has (with the support of TB council and staff) accomplished in just a few short years to serve as an ex-ample for our municipality.

This could and should be the start of something good — long overdue.
