The Valley East tenor Joey Niceforo, along with fellow Destino tenors Paul Ouellette and Leon Leontaridis, will be live on stage tonight and tomorrow at Glad Tidings Tabernacle, 1101 Regent St.
"Vancouver-based Destino is quickly establishing itself as the group to watch in the international music scene," said Sarah Danniels of Dexter Entertainment.
With a well-established fan base, the trio released their highly anticipated debut album Destino Forte, which includes the first single Show Me The Way Back To Your Heart written by legendary songwriter Diane Warren.
Born out of a desire to bring opera music to a wider audience, the style dubbed "popera," pop songs with an operatic twist, "is sweeping the world musical landscape, with popularity growing at a rapid pace. Destino's unique sound and incredible vocals are continually gaining new fans in the existing genres of opera, classical and mainstream pop," adds Danniels.
The group's sound is influenced by a variety of musical genre, including pop, opera, gospel, soul, R&B, jazz and musical theatre.
Destino's music is also romantic and showcases the band members' vocal range.
Before coming together as a group, each member was pursuing a successful solo careers - from singing with Canadian opera companies to appearing in feature films, all while competing successfully in district, regional an international competitions.
Destino has performed with Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban and Il Divo. They perfomed at the Beijing Olympics this past summer.
Continuing to tour, Destino brings their classical sound with a modern twist across Canada. Singing in English, French, Italian and Spanish, their music is being embraced by industry and fans alike.
"I think we've been blessed to have an opportunity to record an album and I hope that we've used our talents well in creating this project," said Joey Niceforo.
