Sounding off during ‘Dickens Week’

Sudbury Secondary School students Mitchell McIntyre (left) Teal Corelli and Thomas Flake, who are part of the school’s brass ensemble, play some music during the recent proclamation of Charles Dickens week (Dec. 7 to 13) at Tom Davies Square. The students dressed in period costume to promote the upcoming reading of A Christmas Carol.

The reading of the classic literary tale takes place Sunday, Dec. 13 at Sudbury Secondary School’s Sheridan Auditorium at 7.p.m. The evening will showcase high-profile community members as readers, and music from several Rainbow Schools bands, including the Sudbury Secondary School brass ensemble, the Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School woodwind ensemble, the Lasalle Secondary School bluegrass duo and the Lockerby Composite School jazz combo. The cost to attend is $10 for adults, $5 for students and $20 for a family.

All proceeds will go to the Joan Mantle Music Trust. Tickets are available at all participating schools, Black Cat on Durham Street and Jett Landry Music.
