A TV movie, which was shot in Muskoka, Parry Sound and Sudbury in 2007, will air on CBC TV this Sunday, July 19 at 8 p.m.

The second part of The Summit, featuring Bruce Greenwood, James Purefoy, Rachelle Lefevre, Mia Maestro, Stephen McHattie and Lisa Ray with Wendy Crewson and Christopher Plummer, will air the following Sunday, July 26.

Some scenes for the movie were shot at the Sudbury lakeside home of Rob and Karyn Zulich.

The Summit is about what happens when a North American military-engineered smallpox virus is smuggled into Canada as world leaders gather for the G8 Summit.

The real G8 Summit will be held at the Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville in June 2010. Scenes for the fictional G8 Summit were shot at the resort.

The Summit is an original screenplay by award-winning writer John Krizanc, who also worked on Men With Brooms, a movie starring Paul Gross that was filmed, in part, in Sudbury.

  • Man about town, a minor correction:

The movie was actually filmed in several locations in the Sudbury region, including the Willet Green mining centre, Elgin St, the Best Western Hotel, and the Townehouse Tavern among other locations. The productionmore» employed dozens of locals (yes, paid!) in a variety of on screen and off screen roles.

I don't think this is Sudbury claiming pseudo fame so much as letting the community know about some news regarding the town in which they live. This is good for economy, is it not? Additionally, if other film-makers see Sudbury as a viable option, they too will come here and spend their cash. External investment into the local economy in these times should not be shunned or dismissed. Why shouldn't Sudbury celebrate their involvement in this? Sure beats our reputation as a cold, desolate rock in northern Ontario.«less

  • CBC=lame programing for the wannabe, aristocratic gay man, or the prune-tit, turkey neck, blue haired, doylie knittin' granny.

  • CBC = yay. A wonderful service I am happy to give my taxes to, unlike policing.

I'm sorry they don't feature enough animated monkey movies for your liking.

  • CBC movie = yawn.

Is Sudbury so desperate for attention that we'll claim pseudo fame because the CBC filmed inside someones house?
    Yikes.
