New France stage production

This large-scale production combines acting, dance, song, video and stage effects, portraying the expansion of New France towards Lake Superior and Hudson Bay.

The show features the attack on the French fort at Sault Ste. Marie, a Native celebration on Manitoulin Island and a descent into the mines of Sudbury. The production involves 50 actors. Similar regional productions by the L’écho d’un peuple organisation have been performed in Timmins, Barrie and Windsor.

The production is presented in collaboration with le Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario, le Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario, La Slague du Carrefour francophone and le Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario. The show will be held in the gym at Collège Boréal.

The Dec. 11 show is at 7 p.m. and is $30 for adults, $25 for seniors and post secondary students and $12 for teens and children. The Dec. 12 show is at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and post secondary students and $10 for teens and children.

Tickets are available at the box office or by phoning 525-5606 ext. 4 or by going to www.leTNO.ca. The producers of the show are looking for 50 adult and 150 youth actors.
