Myths and Mirrors, a non-profit community arts organization based in the Donovan and Flour Mill areas, is launching two new projects this summer.

Myths and Mirrors first summer initiative is an educational day called “Keepers of the Water.”

Aboriginal leader Winnie Pitawannakwat and city planner Jason Ferrigan will join speakers from The Junction Creek Stewardship Committee and the Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury on June 28 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to educate community members about the revitalization of Junction Creek.

The creek revitalization will be depicted by paintings, musical performances, sculptures, videos and photography, according to a press release from the organization.

Myths and Mirrors' is also leading a children and youths' art program at Victory Park this summer.

From July 6 to August 22, on Tuesdays to Fridays from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m., neighbourhood kids are invited to take part in activities to enhance the park, located at the corner of Frood Road and Shevchenko Avenue.

Projects planned by the group include building a community garden, stage, and welcome sign, and planning a parade for Donovan Days.
