The only warmer back to school welcome than a big loud concert is a series of big loud concerts.

And that is what's happening at Froche.

Misteur Valaire will play Sept. 16 at Science North's Vale Inco Cavern, and their alter ego Qualité Motel will put on the after-party show following a performance by Les Cowboys Fringants.

According to Christian Pelletier, promotions and communications director from Carrefour francophone de Sudbury, Misteur Valaire “baffled” the music industry when they gave away copies of their last album.

“They went multi-platinum with it by giving it away for free,” Pelletier said.

The band plays a mix of electronic, hip-hop, jazz and pop music, could couldn't be solely classified in any of the genres, stated a press release.

Qualité Motel, Misteur Valaire's  “100 per cent electro project” is a lineup of the five DJs spinning remixes and original tracks using a vintage drum machine and low-end synthesizers.

The fifth annual welcome-back event for students normally takes place downtown Sudbury, but in light of College Boréal's 15th anniversary, the main show is happening there.

“This year, we wanted to beef it up a bit and make it a mini-festival,” Pelletier said.

Tickets to Mister Valaire's performance cost $10 for students and $20 for adults. Tickets to the after-party cost $8. “Full Froche” passports are also available, which offer admittance to all three shows. The student rate for passports is $20, and the adult rate is $40.
