The Sudbury Symphony Orchestra is offering trial classes for two of its courses.

The Yahama Junior Music Course, for children four to five years old, teaches kids about basic ear training and develops their sense of rhythm, while the Yahama Drum Course teaches students aged eight to adult about proper stick technique and reading skills.

On Aug. 25, a free session for young musicians will take place from 4:15 until 4:45 p.m. at Laurentian University's School of Education keyboard lab, in room 109.

On Aug. 28, the $5 drumming class will take place in the Community Room at the Great Canadian Superstore on Lasalle Boulevard. Instructor Ian Gibson will teach a 45 minute session beginning at 1 p.m.

For more information or to register for a trial session, visit www.sudburysymphony.com or phone Rachel Churchill at 705-673-1280.
